Yorokobu and Computer Arts mag

My work's been featured in some exciting places this month! First up, the lovely people from Spanish design magazine Yorokobu have got a four page feature of my work in their latest issue (see above)! I'm not really sure what they said about me as it's all in Spanish, but hopefully nice things..

And secondly an animation I worked on a while ago now, 'A Record of Life', is featured on the disc of Computer Arts Magazine's summer issue so go pick one up if you fancy a copy of it ^_^

Urban Outfitters Bookmark Project

Urban Outfitters asked me to design a repeat pattern to be used as a bookmark and a desktop wallpaper, so this is what I came up with. It depicts a quiet fishing town, blissfully unaware of it's impending attack from outer space.

Apparently they should be kicking around in stores mid August so keep an eye out!

A limited edition print run of my piece, 'The Slaying of the Beast', has just been released by The Working Proof Gallery, an online gallery that sells prints, with 15% going to a charity of the artist's choice. Everyone's a winner! I have chosen to support the Jane Goodall Institute.

Prints are $30 and are digitally printed on acid free, Neenah uncoated matte 100lb cover paper that is 80% recycled. There are 50 up for grabs so get involved and buy here!

YCN's 'World Cup Moments' Mural

I was asked to illustrate one of the semi final games of the World Cup as part of a 'World Cup Moments' mural exhibited downstairs at YCN's studios. Click HERE for pictures of the wall.

I was given the Spain - Germany game and my piece depicted the Spanish veteran defender, Carles Puyol, whose blinding header put Spain through to the Final. Bit of a quick turn around for this one, which is probably why Puyol looks more like Roger Daltry..

Hacker & Muldoon

Flyer/poster design I did for a friend's play showing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer. I've read the script and it sounds fantastic so if you're around, go see it! More info here

Lots of posting at the moment, I'll be selling these sweet babies on my Etsy shop (when I set one up) in packs of three, for you to cut and stick together at home and make your own toy model cars. They look incredible on anyone's mantle piece!

Out of this World

So here is the final comic strip, and it's also my submission for the Cheltenham Illustration Award, the theme being 'Traveller's Tales'.

'Send' Exhibition

Mine and Luke Jinks' animation 'A Record of Life' is going to be shown as part of the 'Send' Exhibition in Sheffield which opens today. The exhibition presents work from many a talented illustrator and artist, promising to be a right treat! Go check it out if you're up north :)

Across the Way!

Here's a picture of my corner in our 'Across the Way' exhibition at Here Gallery this month. The collection of work I produced for it followed a chivalric brotherhood of five knights called 'The Order of Succor'. Each piece on the right-hand wall depicts why the five men were knighted, or 'won their spurs', and below is a painted shield with the coat of arms of each brave knight. Close-ups to follow!

Here's a miniature castle I made from paper. I imagine they would have made castles from sturdier building materials in those days, but I think I made the best of the materials at hand.

Last night we had a lovely private view for our exhibition 'Across the Way' at Here Gallery (photos coming soon!), which runs until April 3rd. Here's a sneaky peak of one of the pieces I'm exhibiting. There's some really nice work on display so I strongly advise you to drop by :)

Here Gallery Exhibition

So it's been a while since I last posted, I've been busy producing new work for an exhibition with my good pals Adam Hancher, Jack Hudson and Luke Jinks at Here Gallery in Bristol. I'm having a lot of fun creating the work for it as I'm looking at medieval knights for inspiration, it's like revisiting childhood! The show runs through March and I'll be sure to post some work for your greedy eyes soon.

'The Uninvited guest'

I was asked, along with fellow Just Us-ers, to put a piece in for a christmas exhibition at the LCB Surf Store in London this December. The theme is 'In Sequence' so I went for the most obvious outcome of a comic strip :) I quite enjoyed doing this really, nice not having to rely on the ol' computer for once.

GOOD NEWS! Our animation, 'A Record Of Life', has been selected for the Flip Animation Festival this weekend! It will be it's first public screening so I'm quite excited really ^_^ The festival is held in Wolverhampton at the Light House Media Centre and our film will be shown on Saturday afternoon, if you find yourself around those parts.

LUCHA Pop-Up!

After being inspired by the culture of Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling) I made this cheeky little pop-up. This scene stages the epic fight between the infamous Mr. Barrios and his arch nemesis, Mephisto.

Pop-Up Adventures

A spread from a pop-up book I made following a small boy's daily walk with his dog. No sooner have they set out, when the boy's imagination takes them over and allows them to visit distant lands. As the book progresses the magical dog turns into different animals taking the boy through dramatic landscapes, only to return home safely at the end of it all.
